Nashville Urban Harvest is devoting the majority of its energies this coming season on intensive growing at our volunteer-run community farm site and running our CSA for families in the Nations neighborhood. Public Square Farmers’ Market Closes for remainder of season due to heat and drought
August is always a little rough on Tennessee farmers. But this year’s heat wave and record drought is forcing the closure of the Public Square Farmers’ Market in downtown Nashville.
Heat and lack of water has resulted in low yields and uncertainty of fall crops. The market, which took place on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., also saw a dramatic decrease in shoppers as summer temperatures soared.
